Ping a host from our server and measure response time.

What is Ping Test?

Ping Test measures the round-trip response time between our server and any host on the internet. It sends ICMP echo requests and reports how long each reply takes in milliseconds, along with packet loss percentage. Use it to check if a server is online and how fast the connection is.

How to use this tool

  1. Enter a hostname or IP address to ping.
  2. Click Ping to start sending ICMP echo requests.
  3. Review response times — under 50ms is excellent, under 200ms is acceptable.
  4. Check packet loss — any loss above 0% indicates network issues.
  5. Compare results over time to identify intermittent problems.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good ping time?
Under 50ms is excellent for web hosting, under 100ms is good. For gaming, under 30ms is ideal. Physical distance is the biggest factor — cross-continent adds 100-150ms.
Why does ping show request timed out?
The target didn't respond — it might be offline, or more commonly, its firewall blocks ICMP. Many cloud providers block ping by default. The host can still be operational for web traffic.
What does packet loss mean?
Some requests didn't get a response. Even 1-2% loss causes noticeable issues like slow page loads. Usually indicates network congestion, a failing device, or overloaded server.
Is ping the same as internet speed?
No. Ping measures latency (delay), not bandwidth (speed). For websites and APIs, latency matters more because each request waits for a round trip.
